To increase efficiency of information services

The Public Fund for support and development of independent printing mass-media and information agencies of Uzbekistan organized the seminar “The qualifying standards to modern information services, regarding informing the public and their efficient collaboration with media”.

The event has been attended by the heads of information services of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, mayor’s houses of regions and Tashkent city, professors and lecturers of the faculties of journalism of higher education facilities, representatives of central and regional mass media.

Director of the Public Fund for support and development of independent printing mass-media and information agencies of Uzbekistan A. Abdullaev and others noted that there is paid special attention in our country to ensure rights and interests of citizens in receiving information, creation of conditions for efficient work of mass media.

The concept of further deepening of democratic reforms and shaping civil society serves as an important guidance in creation of new opportunities for step-by-step reforming of information sphere, providing the public associations the information about decisions taken by public authorities.

Information services play important role in ensuring openness and publicity of the activities of public authorities and management bodies, increasing the socio-political activity of citizens. The wide-scale work is going on in the country on strengthening material and technical basis of these services, raising the qualification of their personnel.

The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “About openness of the activities of public authorities and management bodies” serves to ensuring the rights of citizen in information sphere, further increasing the responsibility of public authorities and management bodies in this process. The Law provides safe guarantees to representatives of civil society institutes in free access to information about the activities of public authorities.

At the seminar there were discussed in details the issues of wider using of capacities of information services, regular increasing of professional skills of personnel and further strengthening the cooperation of information services with mass media.
